一、专业简介
本专业致力于艺术设计领域的艺术硕士专业学位教育，具有基础性、应用性、综合性、先进性的艺术教育特点。专业拥有一流的专业师资队伍，现有专任教师37人，其中教授6人、副教授20人，博士11人，硕士生导师14人。教育部艺术学理论教指委委员1人， 中国美术家协会会员12人，江苏省“333”工程、南通市“226”工程人才培养对象2人，五四青年奖章获得者1人。
本专业强调艺术设计（专硕）专业的实践性，针对不同设计门类的学生，注重其设计能力的培养，以造就勇于探索的实践能力、具有国际视野和符合社会需求的高级专业人才。其中视觉传达设计专业为省级一流专业建设点，具有多年招生培养经验，注重理论与实践相结合，致力培养德才兼备、品学兼优的高层次专业人才。基于专业打造的现代家纺产业学院为江苏省重点产业学院建设点，为家纺设计产业研发与人才培养构筑专业平台。
本专业艺术硕士（专硕）分为六个研究方向：视觉传达；工艺美术；数字媒体艺术；环境设计；文化创意设计；建筑设计。各个专业方向都具有艺术设计专业硕士的培养特色：（1）实行“双导师”制，由校内与校外导师共同培养，将创作、实践与人才培养有机结合；（2）组成实践单位和学校相结合的联合培养制度，确保教育始终紧贴社会需求，充分体现专业学位教育所具有的明确的职业指向；（3）强调学生专业素质的培养，加强专业实践，提供多渠道专业实践平台。
